In "Princess" kanaliseert Micky Hoogendijk naar de elegantie en sereniteit van de Vlaamse primitieven, zoals Hans Memling en Rogier van der Weyden. Deze foto maakt deel uit van de serie The Nuns, die vijf karakteriseringen van dezelfde vrouw omvat.

Hoogendijk ontmoette het model, een serveerster uit in Austin, wiens porseleinachtige huid en serene aanwezigheid haar fascineerden. Deze ontmoeting riep herinneringen op aan Hoogendijks jeugd, waarin klassieke kunst een belangrijke rol speelde.

In deze serie onthulde de vrouw verschillende facetten van zichzelf, waarbij elke ontmoeting fungeerde als een spiegel voor Hoogendijk zelf.

De handen en het gedrag van het model echoën de gratie van Memling'sportretten, waarbij de kloof tussen klassieke en moderne esthetiek wordt overbrugd.

"Princess" belichaamt een gevoel van tijdloosheid, waar de herinneringen aan historische kunst naadloos samensmelten met Hoogendijk's unieke hedendaagse stijl, waardoor elk werk een persoonlijke en collectieve reis door de kunstgeschiedenis is.
