In 2019 creëerde Micky Hoogendijk The Art of Love, een serie van twaalf foto’s en een korte film rond het thema zelfliefde en kwetsbaarheid.

“De staat van liefde en geluk wordt niet alleen in anderen gevonden, maar voor haar juist in de natuur.”

Hoogendijk gelooft dat ware liefde voor anderen begint bij liefde voor jezelf, jezelf verzorgen zoals je dat ook voor een ander zou doen. In deze serie stelt zij zichzelf centraal als muze, waarbij zelfacceptatie en openheid de kern vormen van het verhaal.

In The Art of Love toont Hoogendijk zich zowel fysiek als emotioneel, overtuigd dat volledige openheid essentieel is om op diep niveau verbinding te maken met anderen. Geïnspireerd door de woorden van Marianne Williamson, geciteerd door Nelson Mandela, over het omarmen van je innerlijke licht en potentieel, streeft Hoogendijk ernaar haar ware zelf zonder schaamte te onthullen. De serie legt de intieme relatie vast tussen kunstenaar, onderwerp en toeschouwer, en wekt een ‘magische energie’ op die verder reikt dan de fysieke vorm van het werk.

De samenwerking met de Nederlandse filmmaker en fotograaf Frits de Beer resulteerde in zowel foto’s als een korte film, opgenomen op de stranden van Nederland en de Balearen. De beelden tonen Hoogendijk vrij bewegend in de natuur, als belichaming van liefde, kracht en kwetsbaarheid. Titels als The Source, Baptism en Free Fall vertellen op poëtische wijze een reis van emotionele diepgang en persoonlijke transformatie.

The Art of Love The Art of Love daagt maatschappelijke normen rond naaktheid en kwetsbaarheid uit en presenteert het naakte lichaam als symbool van ultieme vrijheid en authentieke zelfexpressie. Hoogendijks werk nodigt de toeschouwer uit zijn of haar eigen kwetsbaarheid te omarmen en kracht te vinden in zelfliefde, waarmee deze serie een krachtig testament vormt van haar artistieke visie en emotionele eerlijkheid.
