Een korte filmserie over het maakproces van ‘The Ones I’, een bronzen sculptuur van vier meter hoog. De serie omvat de drie fasen: de conceptuele en artistieke creatie, het technische proces van het vervaardigen van het grote beeldhouwwerk en de laatste reis naar de Biënnale van Venetië.
Micky Hoogendijk is geïnspireerd om haar visie op grotere schaal te delen, waarbij ze haar beelden ziet als blikvangers in openbare ruimtes, waar ze zowel een baken als een spiegel vormen voor de gemeenschap. Deze visie komt voort uit een verlangen om verbindingen te smeden en een centraal verzamelpunt te creëren binnen buurten, en zo het gemeenschapsweefsel te versterken door middel van kunst. Hoogendijks besluit om het leven te vieren door kunst ziet haar momenten van vreugde en pijn transformeren tot beelden die resoneren met universele thema's van menselijkheid. Deze verhalende kracht is bijzonder aangrijpend in de context van openbare kunst, waar haar beelden betrokkenheid en contemplatie uitnodigen van een breed publiek. Elk stuk in de serie is een dialoog tussen de kunstenaar en de toeschouwer, waarbij de onzichtbare banden die ons allen verbinden worden benadrukt. Hoogendijks kunst moedigt ons aan om voorbij het oppervlak te kijken, naar de emoties en verbindingen die onze gedeelde menselijkheid definiëren. Terwijl deze beelden hun plek vinden in de arena's, worden ze meer dan alleen kunst; ze zijn uitnodigingen om te interacteren, te reflecteren en te voelen.
DE BRONSGIETERIJ Micky Hoogendijk maakt gebruik van twee verschillende methoden om haar bronzen sculpturen te creëren, elk geschikt voor verschillende schalen en complexiteiten van haar artistieke visie.
Cire Perdue Methode (Verloren Was Methode):: Deze traditionele techniek begint met een model van klei (plasticine) van de sculptuur, waarover een siliconenmal wordt gemaakt in de Kemner bronsgieterij. Zodra de mal is uitgehard, wordt vloeibare was in de mal gegoten om een exacte replica van de sculptuur te vormen. Vervolgens wordt een gipsen mal over het wasmodel aangebracht, die in een oven wordt gebakken om de was te verwijderen en het gips te verharden.
Gesmolten brons wordt in de verhitte mal gegoten, waardoor de was wordt vervangen. Na het afkoelen wordt het gips verwijderd, waardoor de bronzen sculptuur zichtbaar wordt, die vervolgens wordt verfijnd door slijpen, polijsten en inwassen om de gewenste afwerking te bereiken.
Zandgiet methode: Voor grotere sculpturen, zoals "The Ones I," begint Hoogendijk met een digitaal model van haar sculptuur, gemaakt door 3D-ontwerper Patrick Beverloo. Met behulp van dit digitale model worden secties van de sculptuur uit piepschuim gefreesd, geassembleerd en bedekt met gips om details toe te voegen. Deze secties worden ingebed in een zandmal, gevormd door zand te mengen met hars en activator. Na uitharding wordt de mal gesplitst, en brons wordt in de holte gegoten die door het verwijderde piepschuim is gecreëerd. Nadat het brons is afgekoeld, wordt het zand verwijderd, en de bronzen stukken worden aan elkaar gelast, verfijnd en behandeld met een donkerbruine was om het uiteindelijke uiterlijk te bereiken.
Elke methode weerspiegelt Hoogendijk's zorgvuldige benadering om de essentie van menselijke verbinding vast te leggen door middel van sculpturen, waarbij artistieke visie wordt gecombineerd met technisch vakmanschap om haar creaties tot leven te brengen in verschillende schalen en dimensies.
