In 2020, Micky Hoogendijk created the “Ave Maria” triptych, a touching ode to motherhood and femininity.<\/p>

This series features the faces of three young women, each exuding innocence, vulnerability, and purity.<\/p>

Their naked bodies are delicately veiled with intricate lace patterns, inspired by an antique box Hoogendijk found in a shop.<\/p>

Upon closer examination, she discovered the engraved image of the Annunciation, which she transposed onto her Virgins.<\/p>

This symbolic layer represents the moment the angel Gabriel tells Mary she will bear God’s child, emphasizing the indispensable role of women in the creation of life.<\/p>

The “Ave Maria” series not only honors Mary, the mother of all mothers, but also reflects Hoogendijk’s own experiences with loss and resilience, turning personal pain into universal beauty.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t
